Cloud Hosting,

Why Want VPS Servers in the Cloud?

There can be as many different definitions of Virtual Server Hosting, in the cloud is as there are of what cloud computing in general is. Cloud computing might be essential for your future productivity but how can you tell if you can’t get a clear definition? Since virtual server hosting is part of the third generation of web services that is making a significant change in business dynamics it will pay read on.

For laymen, the cloud is a platform which allows anyone to use the World Wide Web to connect to unlimited computing equipment, programs and file storage for the large majority of their computing needs without owning any of them personally.

This idea is not particularly new but it appears it’s time has arrived. Those that have been in businesss for more than a decade will have heard various proposals that echo these features. Grid computing sounds very much like what we’ve just described as cloud computing. Both involve server farms loaded with applications made available over the web. Grid computing applications were marketed as a service that you turn off and on and pay for what you use. Cloud computing is different in that it has the ability to deliver IT services to millions of end-users which grid computing never achieved.

The Application Service provider model that was marketed in the early 2000′s is another forerunner to virtual computing. The only lasting successful application of that model was hosted Exchange services. The market place liked the idea of the passing over the cost and maintanence tasks associated with managing email. The inexpensive solution was and has remained popular.

How does cloud computing differ from the ASP platform? It has been argued that the cloud is just a new spin on suppling back-end systems and software as a service over the internet. The simple answer is; the difference is in the fact that millions of customers are using the cloud, something ASP’s never accomplished. But ASP’s success with hosting email became the poster child of today’s cloud computing.

Still, you might ask, why use the cloud instead of having a physical server at your own location? The driving force behind virtulization and cloud computing in any form is economics. Using virtual servers drastically cuts down the start-up costs associated with computerizing your operations and lowers operating costs. Virtual server hosting services through the cloud can meet computing needs for a tiny portion of the cost of purchasing hardware powerful enough to act as a server, software with the installation, maintainence and updating expertise and time demands, not to mention licensing fees.

For non-techie people the idea of virtual server hosting in the cloud may seem very confusing and too new of an idea to risk getting involved in. The facts are that the idea has been around for a dozen years. Economic pressure has created a large enough demand for affordable ways to meet the technologic demads of functioning in the 21st century for these services to be perfected. It’s time has come.

Cloud Hosting,

Dedicated Server Hosting

I’ve been looking for affordable dedicated server hosting and was overwhelmed with the amount of choice out there. I eventually found a great company (recommended by a friend) called UmbeeHosting.com.

Seriously the process has been really easy and the tech support has been fantastic. I use to always use to stick to Virtual Server Hosting but I found I wanted to up the performance to page my pages load quicker for SEO mainly.

They allow you to pick and chose the options and control panels etc so I went for CENTOS 64 bit with Cpanel and the box was ready in like 12 hours, GREAT!

Servers Start at $69.99 and scale up from there if you can find anything cheaper than that at the same spec I would be amazed!

Anyway just wanted to spread the word I know the dedicated server market is saturated and it’s hard to find an honest company that understand their customers.

They have an Web hosting Affiliate Program too definitely something I’m going to pursue when I setup my next affiliate blog.

Link Building “is it Witchcraft?”

Witch-Hat_128x128

Hello All,

Link building and SEO strategies seems to be all the rage at the moment but unless you are a bit of a geek with a real deep understanding of the internet, you might as well forget about trying to compete.  It’s not all bad news though, have you heard of “long tail keywords”?  If not, then don’t worry, you are in the right place, as I’m about to show you how you can get some of that free Google cash.

Acronyms

SERP = Search Engine Results Page

PR = Page Rank

SMM = Social Media Marketing

SEM = Search Engine Marketing

RSS = Really Simple Syndication

Tech Terms

Back Links = Links to your website from external sources such as blogs, forums and article websites.

Link Juice = When you build links to your backlinks you get “link juice” to your main site.

Money Site = The main website you are trying to rank for.

Now that’s over with, let me show you the tools and techniques the pro’s use to get sites ranked on page one of Google.  If you are new to all of this SEO stuff I’m really happy as this will open your eyes to what is going on around you and why SEO and link building is a full time job.

Step 1 – Keyword research

This is the single most important thing when it comes to trying to get your site in the SERP’s.  I can’t stress enough how important proper Keyword research really is, it will literally make or break any SEO\Link Building Campaign.  Personally I use a combination of Google’s Keyword Tool (it’s free) and Micro Niche Finder.  Micro Niche Finder actually pulls information from your Google Adwords account, so you’ll need to make sure you set an adwords account up and put your credentials in to Micro Niche Finder (if you use it of course).  Marketing Samurai is another highly rated keyword research tool, but I’ve never used it so I can’t really comment.

This is how I use Micro Niche Finder to find profitable long tail keywords.

  1. You need to enter your main keyword and simply do a search.
  2. You then sort the results to show you which keywords’ surrounding your main keyword has the most search volume from high to low. Try to target a long tail keyword that has the least amount of competition.  Remember to pick words that are relevant to your site to ensure that it will read well in the main body text, as this is where it will end up.
  3. You’ve just picked your “long tail keywords”.  I normally pick three to five main keywords and three to five long tail keywords to optimise the site.  Create an Excel spreadsheet for your project and enter your keywords into it, as you’ll need them throughout your campaign.

Note: Micro Niche Finder will also allow you to see the Strength of Competition (SOC- how many companies have optimised for the same keyword) and their Online Commercial Intent (OCI – Is your customer in ‘buy’ mode).

Step 2 – On Page Optimisation

Now you need to make your site search engine friendly and ensure it’s optimised for the keywords that you have selected.  For example, let’s say that I set up an “iPAD2” niche website and I used iPAD2 as my main keyword and “iPAD 2 GAMES” as my less competitive long tail.  I would always start with a navigation menu item called iPAD2, then change the H1 tag to something like “Get iPAD2 and download iPAD2 Games”, note that both my main keyword and my long tail phrase are in the H1.

Next you need to build the text for your iPAD2 page.  I normally out-source web content writing to one of my Freelancers as I just don’t have the time to create web content (apart from informative blogs of course!). Make sure your web page content has “iPAD2” three to five times and “iPAD2 Games” two to four times inside the body text, do the same for all the pages you want to optimise on your site.

Step 3 – Start Building your Link Wheel

OK, so I’m not going to go too deep into Link Wheel creation and other SEO method that us pro’s use to rank well, but what I do want to show you is a basic method to get your SERP’s up in a natural way. So, what tools do we need? With so many SEO tools on the market it’s hard to see the wood for the tree’s for any new comer, so I’m going to give you a quick run through of the tool’s I use to make things happen with my campaigns:

1. Paul and Angela links (important for new sites)

I would get 200 Paul and Angela links done for any new site as a rule of thumb as it helps you gain authority. Paul and Angela links are high PR sites that have been found by Paul and Angela (believe it or not!).  The sites are easy to post links on but there is a monthly subscription for the lists (it’s cheap though), alternatively if you can’t be bothered with all of that you could get a Freelancer to do it by creating a post called “200 Paul and Angela links”. Trust me the Freelancers will know exactly what you are talking, but this shouldn’t cost more than $20. Remember to use your most competitive keyword for your anchor on these links.

2. Octane Web 2.0 Blogs

Now I’ll start building my high octane WEB 2.0 sites, you don’t need many but be careful not to overdo it; my method is to rank 3 main keywords along with their short term partner. I would normally create 1x Sqidoo lens, 1x Hubpage with 3 articles and 1x Blogspot with 3 articles. I get the articles written for me, I then submit them myself manually. I also keep the articles so they can be spun and used later in my SEO campaign.

3. Standard Web 2.0 Blogs

Now you need to get your Web 2.0 articles spun to create more unique content.  I use The Best Spinner for this, and spin my entire Octane blog content 10x so I end up with 70 unique articles. I use BackLinks Genie for this because it allows you to resubmit more content after the initial Web 2.0 has been set-up. Remember that these articles will have anchor text that points to the URL’s of your Octane blogs (above), so each Octane blog gets ten standard blogs pointing at it.

4. Bookmark your Octane Web 2.0 Blogs

Once you’ve created your, let’s call them, Octane WEB 2.0’s above, you’re now ready to build links to them thus passing “link juice\Google love” to your main money site.  To do this we use a method called “social bookmarking”, this is basically a way of generating a buzz and making Google think that everyone is talking about your Octane Web 2.0 profiles (going viral).  These are client based applications you can use but I like to use Bookmarking Demon as it has many good sites. I blast about 200 social bookmarks and split them between all the created Octane profiles.

5. X 600 Forum profile blasts

OK so now’s the time to introduce you to Xrumer.  Aggressive internet marketers (think Viagra and porn sites) have been using this for years as it’s simply the most powerful tool around to get backlinks.  However beware as it’s expensive and extremely technical, it is also considered a black hat technique to get links, and will quickly get your site Sandboxed if you don’t know what you’re doing.  I have personally been using BackLinks Genie or Linx Boss to get these links done.  You need to blast about 100 links per day in order not to look too spammy, but it’s an essential evil in your campaign. Remember to make sure you know what URL’s you create profiles on, so you can index them with third party apps, I don’t worry about this as I use Backsgenie API plugin for DFB.

6. Article Submission & Indexing

This is where we need to fire up the best article spinner again, a friend of mine raves about SE Nuke to do all his article submissions, but I prefer to use Article Marketing Robot (I just like it).  Use the best spinner to spin your original articles but this time spin each one 100 times giving you 700 unique pieces of article content.  Now you can use SE Nuke, Magical Submitter or the Article Marketing Robot (AMR), it’s totally up to you how you get this done (out-source if you like), remember that your links need to be indexed so you must keep track of the URL’s.  What’s important here is that your articles link to your main money site with the keywords you’re trying to rank for.  Most SEO applications are worth their weight, you should have pinging and indexing built into this.

I didn’t even touch on the things I do with my own blog network and Twitter feeds (I’ll leave that for my next blog), I hope that this has helped and I hope you now understand that SEO and link building is not about witchcraft, it’s just a combination of different techniques to make search engines think you’re more important than you really are :-) .

Thanks,

SEO Elite Review

seo-elite

I’ve wasted tons of money, time and effort investing in SEO software that just doesn’t do everything it promises to do. As a last resort I checked out SEO Elite. Link building is probably the most difficult and tricky component of any search engine optimization program. Generating too many links too quickly from dubious sources are more likely to get you banned by search engines that scoring high on SERPs. However, I found that SEO Elite offers a way out from these harmful tactics. Here’s what sets it apart:

Analyze Your Competitor’s Back Links

That’s right, SEO Elite can actually tell you what back links your competitor has to his page and which ones are working well for that business. This one feature alone told me that I had to change my online strategy. SEO Elite was able to retrieve information from all the major search engines and gave me useful pieces of data such as a list of inbound links, list of outbound links, link popularity rating and contact email of the back linked site. This SEO software essentially handed me everything I needed on a platter in order to ramp up my campaign.

Figure out Where You Stand

The SEO software performs three types of rankings to tell you just where your site stands against its competitors. Rankings can be determined by back links, page title and key words, so you know where you need to focus your efforts in order to optimize your page.

Validate your Links

Building link relationships and partnerships are a two way street and you can very easily find yourself holding the short end of the stick, when your partner stops linking back to you. With SEO Elite I could validate my links and also ensure that all links were in place.

Conclusion

SEO Elite offers other services such as reporting when and how many of your pages get indexed, how your site ranks in SERPs for a given keyword and helps you to find potential websites from where you can try to generate respectable links. It is by far an authoritative and reliable SEO software from a link building perspective. It certainly helped take my SEO marketing campaign to a new level with valuable and profitable data.
